Creative Writing Experiment #1
In my creative writing class we were given two slips of paper. One slip had a mundane location on it and the other slip had something unusual or magical on it. We were then asked to start creating a story incorporating the things from the two slips of paper into the story. My mundane location was a town hall meeting and my magical object was a lollipop that makes you invincible.
Johnny sat bored out
of his mind at the Town Hall meeting that his mother dragged him to because of
his recent grounding. She hadn’t let Johnny out of her sight this past week
because she didn’t trust him to stay in the house with no electronics while she
was out. He couldn’t blame her cause this time what he had done was serious and
had earned him a whole month of grounding. Even though his sentence was long
taking the car out for a spin had still been worth it.
Anyway, the meeting
seemed to be finishing up. He couldn’t believe that parents actually had to
do this kind of stuff. To sit in a room and talk about boring things like how
to improve things in town like the public parks and the school lunches provided
for students. No wonder parents were so miserable all the time.
The only bright side
was the snack that awaited everyone after the meeting. Mrs. Smith had brought
homemade lollipops to the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting she had told
everyone she was trying out a new recipe for the upcoming bake sale for the
middle school softball team. He had his eye on the bright blue one which he was
planning to swipe while his mother wasn’t looking.
